If you own a car there’s always a risk of locking yourself out. So what can you do to prevent getting locked out of your car in the first place?
Lock Your Car With the Key Fob
Pretty much any modern vehicle uses a a key fob these days. This allows you to unlock your car as you’re walking towards it instead of bothering to put the key inside the door.
A good habit to get into is to only use the key fob. Some people have the habit of locking the doors of their car while the door is open and then closing the door once they get out. The only problem with this is if you did not take your key with you then you’re locked out. If you always make it a habit to lock your car with the key fob once you’re outside of your car this can happen
Have a Spare Key Fob
Having a spare key fob is a really good idea. What car you have will determine the price. Sometimes and extra key fob can be cheap and sometimes it can be very expensive but it is well worth the investment.
The best place to get a spare key fob is from the dealership. This way you would not be paying some re-seller marking up the price. You can keep the spare key fob at home, in a bag that you always take everywhere such as a ladies hand bag, or you can even get strong magnetic boxes that can be stuck to inconspicuous areas of your car.
Replacing the Batteries in Your Key Fob
If you hit the unlock button and it takes several tried to lock or unlock your car it means your batteries are about to die. This is not the worst situation to be in as you can still unlock your car normally. But it means it’s time to get those key fob batteries replaced.
